Presenting the actual situation before the Cauvery Water Management Authority and the Supreme Court

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the actual situation of the state regarding the release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu will be placed before the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) and the Supreme Court.

There was 25450 cusecs of water, but now there is 3730 cusecs of water stored, he said.

On the whole, rainfall has been low in the upper Krishna bank region this year. Rainfall in the month of June is less in the state this year. percent 56% is deficient. The deficit was also found in August and the Cabinet Sub-Committee under the chairmanship of the Revenue Minister has already held three meetings. Again, another meeting will be held on September 04. Even though the Cauvery Water Control Committee has said that 5,000 cusecs of water should be released to Tamil Nadu every day, we lack water for irrigation. Earlier it was suggested to release 15,000 cusecs of water.

But, later after we appealed, they reduced it to 10,000 cusecs, now again after the request of the state, they informed us that they have ordered to release water for 5,000 cusecs.

Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar has already met the state's legal team and apprised them of the ground realities and given them necessary instructions on what the state's line of argument should be. The Supreme Court will hear the matter on Wednesday. He said that after getting the appointment of the Prime Minister, they will be forced to give the necessary permission for the Krishna Upper Bank Project, Environment and Forest Department permission for the Mahadayi Project, Mekedatu Balanced Reservoir Project implementation across the Kaveri river.
